Immersion was never our business model. It is how we grew up.

FirstMy motherShe ran a Spanish immersion program for young children long before it had a name. The children in her care learned the way children actually learn, by living inside the language all day.

SecondMeTwenty years teaching children, with a music degree behind it. I carried her method forward and added the arts, because a song stays in a child's head in a way a worksheet never does.

ThirdMy daughter AmeliaTen years old, and she teaches every lesson in our online courses. She lost her Spanish once and earned it back, so she teaches the exact path a child actually walks.

The Playhouse

There is a real building,
full of real children.

My husband Jorge and I opened The Spanish Playhouse in Providence in 2021. Music is the reason nothing we make sounds like a language lesson. Jorge is a professional trumpet player and guitarist who also plays percussion, and he carries real instruments into the room so the children can hear them up close and hold them. Teaching runs on his side of the family too. His father is a teacher in the Dominican Republic.

In 2024 we moved into a two story space on Rochambeau Avenue, with daily and full week programs for children ages 18 months to 10 years. Spanish is lived there through art, music, stories and play, never drilled.

Every lesson in our online courses was taught in that building first, to actual children, and kept only if it worked. We did not set out to sell anything. Families who could not drive to Providence kept asking us for it, so we filmed all of it.

Why a ten year old
teaches every lesson.

A four year old watching an adult speak Spanish sees something far away. Watching another child do it, they think they could do it too. That belief is the whole battle, and no adult on camera wins it the way Amelia does.

She guides in English and teaches in Spanish, so a complete beginner is never lost. You do not need to speak a word of Spanish at home to start.

I was the one who was going to teach these lessons. Amelia asked if she could do it instead, and then she asked again until I said yes. She will tell you she is going to be an actress, a singer and a writer. Standing in front of a camera teaching Spanish is not something I talk her into. It is the thing she asks me for.
